Living with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Fresh Start Clubhouse emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and empower people living with mental illness, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2000, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas and a strong foundation of community.
Statement on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Fresh Start Clubhouse is an organization that serves people from Washtenaw County who have serious mental illness. Washtenaw County is inherently a diverse community, and the population that Fresh Start Clubhouse serves is likewise diverse. In our efforts to support the Fresh Start Clubhouse and its members, the Board of Directors asserts a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We do this through the following principles:
The Board of Directors is committed to promoting diversity in the makeup of the Board of Directors and encouraging the Clubhouse to similarly promote diversity in recruiting members and staff.
The Board of Directors does not discriminate on the basis of race; ethnicity; national origin; religion; age; gender identity and gender expression; sexual orientation; socioeconomic status; veteran status; and ability, especially in regards to mental health diagnoses.
The Board of Directors seeks to foster a community in which differences are welcomed, differing perspectives are respectfully heard, and each individual feels a sense of belonging.
